France How to dance Branle Ensemble of old collective dances, in open or closed chain. They progress lateraly on the left and are binary ou ternary. Ternary branles include jumped steps that are more tiring and dedicated to young dancers. Dancers, boys and girls intertwined, join hands. The basic step is simple or double.
Double branle : 2 steps on the left, 2 steps on the right.
Simple branle : 2 steps on the left, one step on the right.

Different types of branles : in Brittany An-dro, in Macedony : Lesnoto (open chain that progress to the right), in Hungary Csárdás (often 2 steps on the right 2 steps on the left).
